The Audit Trail Is Tamper-Proof

Once generated, the Digital Audit Trail cannot be altered, deleted, or modified by any party, including Inkfree. It is cryptographically bound to the completed document and sealed at the moment of final signing. Any attempt to modify the document or its audit trail after signing is immediately detectable. The integrity of your executed agreements is permanent.

The Audit Trail Is Permanently Retained

Inkfree retains every Digital Audit Trail alongside its associated signed document in encrypted cloud storage, indefinitely. You can access, download, or share any signed document and its complete audit trail at any time, from any device, whether the document was signed yesterday or three years ago.

Also logged, whenever they occur

Not every document follows the path above. These events branch off the main flow and are captured the moment they happen.

Verify Every Signer's Identity With Confidence

Choose the right authentication level for any document, from a routine NDA to a sensitive financial contract.

One-Time Passcode (OTP) Authentication

Security LevelStrong

When OTP authentication is enabled, Inkfree sends a unique, time-limited numeric code directly to the signer's registered mobile number or email address. Before accessing or signing the document, the signer must enter the correct OTP, confirming they are in possession of the registered contact.

Protects Against

  • Forwarded signing links used by unintended recipients
  • Unauthorized access to signing sessions
  • Disputes about whether the intended party actually signed

Passcode Authentication

Security LevelStandard

Set a custom passcode for any document or envelope. Recipients must enter the correct passcode before they can access or sign the document. The passcode is communicated through a separate, out-of-band channel (phone call, in-person, or separate message) so the document link and access credential are never transmitted together.

Protects Against

  • Unauthorized access if a signing link is forwarded or intercepted
  • Signing by unintended parties who receive a forwarded link
  • Situations requiring additional access control beyond the signing link
