Document Settings Explained (Settings → Document Settings)

Aug 3, 20261 min read

One page holds your organization's document behavior — the defaults every new sign request inherits. Worth understanding line by line.

What's On the Page

 •  Default expiration — how long requests stay open before auto-expiring. Deadlines keep pipelines honest; 30 days suits most teams.

•  Default reminders — the automatic chase cadence for pending signers.

•  Signing defaults — organization-wide signing behavior applied to new requests.

How Defaults Interact with Requests

1.  New requests inherit the defaults at creation.

2.  Senders can adjust per request — the defaults are a starting point, not a cage (unless policy locks a setting).

3.  Sent requests are immutable — changing defaults affects future requests only, never anything already in flight.

Set It to Your SOP

Write down how your team should send (expiry, reminders), enter it here once, and the standard enforces itself from then on.
